The USDA has rolled out a major initiative—the Farmer Bridge Assistance (FBA) Program—to help farmers navigate rising input costs and market disruptions. This one-time, $12 billion pilot program is designed to provide financial stability and support planning for the upcoming planting seasons.
What Is the FBA Program?
The FBA Program offers direct assistance to farmers based on acreage and production costs. It’s not a loan—it’s a relief payment to help bridge the gap between current challenges and future opportunities.
Who Qualifies?

Row Crop Farmers: $11 billion is allocated for producers of crops like corn, wheat, soybeans, cotton, rice, and more.
Specialty Crop Farmers: $1 billion is reserved for fruits, vegetables, and other specialty crops.
To be eligible, farmers must file accurate 2025 acreage reports with the Farm Service Agency (FSA) by December 19, 2025.
When Will Payments Arrive?
Funds are expected to be disbursed by February 28, 2026, giving farmers a financial boost before spring planting.
Why This Matters
This program is a significant step toward stabilizing farm income during uncertain times. It helps farmers plan ahead and maintain operations without sacrificing long-term goals.
